Augustana Care fact sheet

Augustana Care, serving seniors in Colorado and Minnesota, will operate the care campus.

Where will it be located?

Castle Peak will be located in the town of Eagle. It will be situated at the intersection of Capitol Street and Sylvan Lake Road in the Eagle Ranch neighborhood.

What types of units are planned for Castle Peak?

  • 22 skilled nursing beds (for people with chronic care conditions; staffed with 24-hour licensed supportive service providers)

  • 20 assisted living apartments (private apartments with separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living spaces; 24-hour non-licensed support available)

  • 12 memory care suites for those with cognitive issues

  • 10 short-term rehabilitation suites (where the average stay is less than 90 days)

How do I know which level of care would work best for me?

Assisted living is designed for those who need extra assistance performing daily activities but don’t require round-the-clock care. Available services such as individualized health care plans, nursing services and weekly housekeeping can help people maintain their independence while receiving the assistance they need.

For individuals experiencing cognitive changes, memory care provides a community focused on maximizing residents’ skills and abilities while imparting a sense of purpose and success.

Short-term rehabilitative care offers the services of professionals who can help speed recovery and focus on working to restore each individual’s strength and abilities after surgery or an illness.

Skilled nursing serves those whose medical needs require round-the-clock care. Nurses, therapists, dieticians and other professionals help sustain physical and emotional health for residents.

What is the timeline for construction?

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2016.

Who will be managing Castle Peak?

Augustana Care, serving seniors in Colorado and Minnesota, will operate the care campus.

How much does it cost to live at Castle Peak?

Most costs are at or below competitors’ prices in the Front Range area. Prices for care
services vary according to each individual’s needs and additional care is available based on
tiered levels of care. To determine what you or a loved one might pay, please contact our
marketing director at 970-989-2500.

No, there are no entrance fees at Castle Peak.

Will I own my residence? Or rent?

Residents will rent their homes.

What happens if I need more care over time?

Castle Peak offers a continuum of care with a variety of living environments providing care and support as residents’ needs change.

What if my spouse needs a different level of care than I do?

Castle Peak is being designed to accommodate spouses who may have different needs. For example, a couple may share two suites in the care center (companion rooms) if desired or one spouse can live in the assisted living area while another lives in the care center.

Can I bring my pet?

In consideration of the health and safety of all residents, pets will be welcome to visit but will not be able to live in the community.

Can I bring my own furnishings?

Assisted living residents will need to bring their own furnishings. Staff will be available to assist residents and families in creating comfortable and inviting interiors. Rooms will be furnished in the skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation units; however, we encourage residents to bring smaller items that will add personal touches and make them feel at home.

What types of amenities are included?

Castle Peak residents and visitors will enjoy walking paths, patios and common areas with natural light and beautiful vistas. A variety of amenities will be present but have not yet been finalized. Options being considered include a hair salon/barber shop and café.

What types of recreational activities will be offered?

We are looking at numerous possibilities, including inter-generational programs with the local school, health and wellness classes, culinary events, educational programs and music events.  Other activities will be determined by residents’ desires and preferences.

Do you need to be a resident of Eagle, or Eagle County, to qualify for residency?

No.

Are there income qualifications to be a resident?

A variety of income levels will qualify for residence in the skilled nursing center. Assisted living residents will pay privately or with the help of long-term care insurance policies for services and rent.

Are meals included with the housing?

Two meals a day are included for residents in assisted living. Residents will have the option purchase an additional daily meal if they wish to do so.

What about transportation?

Local officials are working on this issue with Augustana Care and we will post a response as soon as logistics are determined.

Are there any other Augustana Care projects in Colorado?

In 2011, the Elk Run assisted living community became part of Augustana Care and is now known as Augustana Elk Run.  The community has the capacity to serve 68 older adults in Evergreen.
